In 1994, Bill Hevron and Mike Tremble worked as biologists for the Navajo Nation Natural Heritage program. Recognizing a growing need for quality environmental consulting on Native American tribal lands, they co-founded Ecosystem Management, Inc. (EMI)
Working out of a small office that was once a historic barber shop in historic downtown Gallup, New Mexico. With almost no resources other than the hard work and determination of the two partners, the fledgling EMI quickly earned a reputation for providing quality environmental consulting services at a reasonable price.
EMI quickly grew and added state, federal, tribal and private sector contractors to their ever growing list of regular clients. As the EMI list of clients and services continued to grow the EMI corporate headquarters was relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The central location of Albuquerque increased EMI’s access to qualified personnel and client and agency offices.
In 2012 Garth Hayden joined EMI team as a Principal to help manage the continued growth and success of the company. Mr. Hayden brought an increased focus on customer relationships and an emphasis on active project management to the team.
EMI expanded the range of our services from providing basic NEPA, natural and cultural resources to include:
- Historic Architecture
- Clean Water Act Compliance and Permitting
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
